The Nora Roberts Foundation recently awarded a grant to the Eastern Shore Public Library Foundation to support the construction of the new regional library to be built in Parksley, Virginia. In 2001 Nora Roberts created the Nora Roberts Foundation. A successful business woman as well as a best-selling author, Ms. Roberts envisioned the foundation as an avenue of support for organizations promoting and encouraging literacy, children, the arts and humanitarian efforts. These areas, particularly important to her and her family, serve as the focus of the foundation.

Nora Roberts started writing during a blizzard in 1979. Writing also under the pen name J.D. Robb, every title she has published since 1999 has been on the New York Times bestsellers list. Of local interest is her Chesapeake Bay series.

The Eastern Shore Public Library Foundation ensures the long-term financial stability of the Eastern Shore Public Library by securing private financial support and grants for capital needs and endowments. Their current project is to raise funds for a new Regional Library to serve residents of Accomack and Northampton Counties and is planned to open in 2019. Members include local residents, the Eastern Shore Public Library Board of Trustees and library staff.
