Eastern Shore Public Library Joins Foundation Center’s Global Network

Funding Information Network Provides Resources for Local Grantseekers

(Accomac, Virginia) December 21, 2017 – Nonprofit organizations and other grantseekers on the Eastern Shore of Virginia looking for funding sources now have access to a valuable new collection of resources at Eastern Shore Public Library in Accomac, which has become a Funding Information Network partner with Foundation Center.

Funding Information Network partners provide under-resourced and underserved populations in need of vital information and training with tools they can use to become successful grantseekers. Located throughout the country and around the world, Funding Information Network partners offer free access to Foundation Center’s detailed information on grantmakers and applying for grants. Foundation Center’s core collection of resources includes Foundation Directory Online, profiling more than 140,000 U.S. grantmakers, Foundation Grants to Individuals Online, Foundation Maps, print directories, and proposal writing guides. Funding Information Network locations also hold training sessions on how to effectively use these resources and identify potential funders.

Established in 1956, Foundation Center is the leading source of information about philanthropy worldwide, serving grantseekers, grantmakers, researchers, policymakers, the media, and the general public. Thousands of people visit Foundation Center’s website each day and are served in its five regional learning centers and its international partnerships with hundreds of Funding Information Network locations.

The Eastern Shore Public Library is working with the Eastern Shore of Virginia Community Foundation, the United Way of Virginia’s Eastern Shore, and the Eastern Shore of Virginia Chamber of Commerce to build the capacity of nonprofits on the Shore.  The ESVA Community Foundation has provided the financial support for the Foundation Center databases.  A United Way donor has provided funding for the computer designated for searching these databases.  The Chamber is assisting with training and additional resources.
