Shore Library Supporters Rise to Pledge Challenge

Eastern Shore library supporters recently responded to a challenge campaign for pledges for the new Regional Library and Eastern Shore of Virginia Heritage Center construction.

Thanks to the Community Pledge Challenge and additional fundraising the total amount of pledges stands at $440,000. BB&T has assisted in the financing for the project.

Eastern Shore Public Library supporters have volunteered for ten years to plan and raise funds for a state-of-the-art new library. The new facility is planned to open in late 2020.

The Eastern Shore Public Library Foundation, the 501(c)3 nonprofit formed in 2009 to raise funds for the new regional library, will continue to raise funds in support of the new 20,837 square foot facility. “All of our hard work is paying off,” stated Colette Nelson, Foundation President, “but we must continue the effort. This is a community project that benefits everyone on the Shore. We are very grateful for everyone’s contributions. Please make a pledge or donate, if you have not done so already.”

Once all Accomack County contracts are finalized, the library will schedule a groundbreaking. For more information about the library project or to make an online donation or pledge, visit shorelibrary.com or call 787-2500. Pledge cards are also available in all four Eastern Shore public libraries.
