This 1959 Mark 9 was donated to the Eastern Shore Public Library to help raise money for a badly needed new main library in this rural area in coastal Virginia.

The owner of the car purchased it in an estate auction in 2004, spent approximately $6,000 upgrading the brakes and fuel system, and after driving the car for about six months put it away in a barn on his farm. The car remained in the barn for the next 14 years, and the owner took it out last fall to donate to the Eastern Shore Public Library Foundation, a non-profit charged with raising funds to construct a new library and heritage center in the town of Parksley, on Virginia’s Eastern Shore.

This Jaguar is remarkably original and intact and is an excellent candidate for restoration. The woodwork is in its original finish, and the upholstery is in good shape. The only areas that show much wear are the driver’s seat and the carpet. The tool kits in both front doors have all the original wrenches, pliers, and pumps for bleeding the brakes. The odometer shows 23,782 miles. The car has some surface rust on the trunk lid, but appears to have the original paint. As the photographs show, there is a small amount of rust at the bottom of the rocker panels and along the lip beneath the rear bumper. But for a car nearly 60 years old, the car is in remarkable original condition.
